8 days before 21.12 12 there is a dark Moon which is when the Moon seems to have disappeared in the sky, followed by the silver crescent which emerges as the New Moon. The latter will be at 21 degrees of Sagittarius, the Archer.
So, firstly, what do we do when the Moon has vanished ? (or gives us the illusion that it has) A really good thing to do would be to sit quietly and have a really good think about what you would like to bring into your life during the coming New Moon phase. Think very deeply, be honest with yourself about how your life and plans are going. Be still and stop the chattering in your mind and see what comes to mind. You could get yourself a little special notebook to write your ideas down. Then when you start to work on your plans, you could write more in your book. Gradually you will build up a record of your workings and would be able to start to see what works for you and do a little experimenting at the various Moon phases. It would be fun to look back in a years time and see what has happened.
Then we come to the New Moon.
When the Moon is in different signs it produces a different impulse, frequency or kind of energy. This means that some activities, trains of thought or ventures will be easier to kickstart or work on as we would be aligning our efforts with the energies that are permeating the life force. We would be choosing the path of the least resistance when energies will work with us rather than against us or make it more difficult.
Moon in Sagittarius—this Moon energy is a barren, dry and masculine sign. It is suitable for planting onions, seeding hay and for general working on the land.
Magickal workings: This Moon energy is compatible with any project to do with religion and metaphysics. Anything to do with long distance travel and higher learning, imagination and confidence are well starred. The energy is warm and optimistic and your ventures will expand well. It is an excellent time to trust your intuition and go with your inner flow of imagination. Search for the higher truth in any situation. It is beneficial to begin any healing that is associated with the liver, thighs and hips.
More on the Sagittarian energy :
The Archer seeks to move beyond the dynamics of family life and into the broader fields of community involvement. It has an energy that seeks to meet and communicate with people from all walks of life. Sagittarius supports human diversity, and the thought of reaching out and connecting with people in an attempt to create a more ideal society,
In the myths, Sagittarius is linked with Chiron the Centaur, a race of beings which were half-human and half horse. They had the best of both worlds as their minds and hands had the clarity and dexterity of humans and their lower bodies were in the form of horses which connected them with the earth and the world of instinct. Chiron was king of the centaurs. He was a philosopher, teacher, and healer. He lived in a cave so was close to the earth and nature and very wise. His cave was his classroom and it was from here that he shared what he knew about celestial phenomena, medicine, herbs, spiritual musings, music and mathematics. The Gods respected his knowledge about these diverse subjects. Chiron taught Asclepius, the son of the healing god Apollo, medicine. Chiron had so much knowledge but he was unable to cure a wound in his knee hence he was known as the Wounded healer.
Another archetype that has come to be associated with Sagittarius is that of Artemis or Diana. She was the twin sister of Apollo and goddess of the hunt. Artemis remained independent from all romantic involvement with men or gods. She preferred the freedom to roam wild through the mountains of Arcadia. The sagittarian impulse is to keep hold of as much freedom as possible. This includes freedom of expression and this sign can often be quite outspoken but that is another facet of their urge to express themselves in a free manner, without constraints. As said previously, Sagittarius is known as the Archer. The bow and arrow truly belong to Artemis. There is a contradiction because she was known as the goddess of the hunt, but in fact she protected animals from being hunted more often than she hunted them herself. Today she would no doubt be found campaigning for the whales and dolphins in Taiji and other places, the oceans, and the rainforests. She represents the holistic side of Sagittarius that has achieved wholeness. She has become the voice for the voiceless, speaking out for their freedom.
As every human being is interconnected through an energetic grid, the personal work that each of us does to accelerate our personal transformation will have an affect on every other person on the planet.
