Dolphins and Ancient Egypt

One of my interests is Ancient Egypt, notably the Armarna Period, The Pharaoh Akhenaten and because of his interest in Sekhmet, Akhenaten’s father. Amenophis 111. Akhenaten was called Amenophis IV until he changed his name after he altered the Egyptian pantheon to just worshippping the Aten, the rays of the Sun (He has been called the world’s first individual and the first monotheist)

As I have been very involved with the plight of the dolphins in Taiji Cove, I thought I would investigate their link with Ancient Egypt to see what that civilization thought of them. I have recently been to a course on “The Four faces of The Pyramid” run by the wonderful Dolores Nowicki Ashcroft and we focussed a lot on Isis, Nepthtys, Osiris and Seth.

Dolphins did not feature much in Ancient Egyptian culture except that they  were associated with the Goddess Isis. They were regarded as aspects of her hidden power, intuition and resurrection.
